I Enjoyed My Century Bangus Fillet at Dinner with my Dad

Posted by GoddessMC On Wednesday, November 25, 2009 0 Comments

Me and my family love to eat and we make it a point that we eat together as a family. Especially if all of us are around, like every Sunday, holidays and/or special occasions.

November 1 was a holiday! Another chance for us to eat together but.. I have a company retreat to attend to and my mother and three other siblings will go to Laguna. So it was just me and my father left in the house.

It was tiring to travel from Tagaytay to Subic then back to Manila. My company held our annual retreat at Tagaytay last week of October. After that, I visit a friend a day before I went back home in Manila.

On the bus terminal, I thought of dropping by at the supermarket before heading home to buy some grocery items. My mom always put canned food stocks just in case she's not around to cook a decent meal.

Since I was out of the house for days, I am not sure if there are enough stocks for us at home since my Mom will be in Laguna on All Saints’ day.

One thing I know, Mom+Not Home=No decent food!

So I went to the canned good aisle to get few. As I stroll around the aisle, I saw this new Century product which is the Century Bangus Fillet. Out of curiosity, I bought some and took it home.

When I got home, my Dad was alone in the house. All my brothers and sister went with my Mom in Laguna to visit my Grandma.

The whole day I stayed in my room just watching television while browsing the Internet. With much busy-ness, I realized that it was time for dinner. I was too lazy to cook and honestly, I’m not really a cook person. I am better in eating. Too lazy to get out of my room, I stayed there and watch more tv.

After an hour of endless tv watching, I smelled something burning. I went out to see my dad’s pork chop being spoiled. Yup! There goes our dinner! It end up as my dog’s dinner!

Good thing that I bought Century Bangus Fillet! My dad and I were starving and can’t afford to cook another pork chop so I offered Dad the Century Bangus Fillet for dinner. With two plates on my hand together with toyo and calamansi, I prepared our dinner. Dad’s face changed on his first spoon of his meal. He was impressed by the taste and the convenience of Century Bangus Fillet.

The next day, Mom and my siblings arrived and asked us how was our day without her in the household. Dad bragged about the Century Bangus Fillet we had last night and offered them to serve lunch with me and my Dad's new favorite, the new Centruy Bangus Fillet!

Ondoy Aftermath

Posted by GoddessMC On Thursday, October 8, 2009 1 Comments

How's everybody after the typhoon? I had a week long vacation because of the typhoon and now here I am back at work.

I just recently found out that some of the teachers, students and employees stayed in our school because it became impossible for them to go home when Ondoy hit our country.

An office mate of mine told me a very disappointing experience she had when she decided to stay overnight here in our school because of the heavy rain.

Here's the story.

(Note: I am not going to name names or name their position, mahirap na. Baka masisante ako!)

She left her office at exactly (or even earlier) 12 noon. Hoping that she can still go home to her kids who's home alone with their yaya. But it became difficult for her and for some other employees since the flood is already high and if she decided to leave our school, who knows if she can take a ride home.

So she made her decision. She stayed in our school.

It was already 3pm and she have not yet eaten lunch. The canteen is closed. Nobody's selling food inside the campus. The store MiniStop in front of our school is open but going there is difficult. But alas! Suddenly food was being served! She only ate a little because that's all they have. But she was happy. At least she got to eat.

At around 6-7pm, she started to feel hungry again. She went to the CAC (Culinary Arts Center) to look for some coffee. Someone was also there. She saw my office mate and asked her what is she looking for. My friend told someone. "Kape po sana, sinisikmura na po kasi ako."

That someone replied, in a high pitched voice. "Hindi kayo kasali sa mga yan. Para sa parents at students yan. Dun kayo kay (name of a person), siya magpapakain sa inyo!"

Haay.. how could a someone say that? Where's the compassion? Parang simpleng kape lang ipagdadamot mo pa!

When my friend was telling this story, she was crying.

But the story does not end there.

After that incident a teacher approached my friend and gave her two packets of 3-in-1 coffee. My friend was hesitant to accept the offer because of what just happened but the teacher was adamant. She gave two packets of instant coffee to my friend.

With two packets of coffee on hand, she took two cups and offered the other one to our other office mate.

While sipping the hot coffee, someone saw them again and said. "Last nyo na yan ha! Ayaw ko na kayong makita dito mamaya!"

Haaay.. it was heartbreaking to hear this story.

I know this someone. I never really interact with her that much but will call me every now and then to tell me what to do or if there something that she wants me to do. And I admit. Ganun talaga ang boses nya. Palasigaw. Parang laging galit. I thought that she is just like that. But for her to say those things to my friend at a time of calamity?? Unacceptable! People all over the Philippines are helping one another just to bring some help to those who are left with nothing but what did she do? She showed no compassion to my friend who is a member of our so-called community.

Yesterday, I saw some relief goods that I believe will be given to those who are affected by the typhoon. And I remembered the story my friend told me.

Pinagdamutan sya dito nung bumabagyo! Empleyado sya dito, kapamilya sya dito pero pinagdamutan sya tapos ngayon magbibigay sila ng pagkain sa ibang tao?? Ang plastik naman!

I am not saying that all school officials here in our school are like that. Hindi naman.

Haay.. my friend was traumatized with what happened, she did not eat dinner and breakfast the next day. How I wished I just invited her to stay in our house. But its too late. The damage is done.

Bagyong Ondoy

Posted by GoddessMC On Tuesday, October 6, 2009 1 Comments

Last Saturday, September 26, 2009 bagyong Ondoy hit our country.

I went to work that day thinking that it will be just like any work day I have. Come nine in the morning, it started to rain. I was clueless of what was happening outside since my room have no windows in it. But I can hear the loud pouring of rain. 10am came and I went outside to take a peek at what's happening outside.

Ang lakas ng ulan!!!

At 11 am, my Mom called, saying that water is now entering our house. I was shocked to hear that! I can't believe what my Mom told me. It rarely floods in our area. I can't even remember when was the last time I saw flood on our street. But on that day, the flood went inside our house. My mom informed me about the situation and advised me that maybe I should stay at school for awhile and let the rain settle down first. Good thing I didn't follow my mother's advise because when I went down from the building I'm in, that was 11:30am, water was beginning to make its way inside the building.

As I was walking towards the exit gate, I was shocked to see that water is making its way into our school! Some offices that are located at the ground floor are beginning to put their valuable things on top of their tables/desks.

When I neared the gate, I have no choice. I pulled up my pants and proceeded to walk inside our flooded campus. Here are some pics.

Stone tables where students take their lunch.

School grounds.

I have to walk to this hallway to "time-out" flood is slowly making its way.

Hallway going to the College Department. If you go further this hallway, the flood is much higher.

Gate 1 (exit gate) The water is about 2-3 inches high.

Outside our school.

Ambilis umakyat ng baha..

The most popular mode of transportation that day.

That's my feet inside the pedicab!

The pedicab asked for 50 pesos but I gave him 60. Nakakaawa eh, hinihila/tinutulak nya yung pedicab tuwing lulusong sa mataas na baha.

After riding the pedicab, I ride a tricycle home. The ricycle driver only asked for 25 pesos which I though was very cheap. Akala ko mahal nya ako sisingilin kasi umuulan at baha.

This is the situation in our house when I got home.

I got a 1 week vacation because of the typhoon and now, everything seems back to normal for me. I am now back at work.

I only have few pictures taken, I would have taken a lot but I got too scared that I will drop my phone. Hehe!

How rude can a person be?

Can these pictures qualify?

Snatching the mic..

"I'll let you finish."

"I'm sorry, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time!"

Taylor Swift's "You Belong With Me"won Best Female Video over Beyonce's "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)" in the MTV Video Music Awards 09. While making her speech, Kanye West crashed the stage and stole what would have been Taylor Swift shining moment. Kanye said, "I'm sorry, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time!" I agree with him, Beyonce's video of Single Ladies is better the Taylor's but... why do that?? Steal the microphone from a 17 year old who just got her first MTV award? That's rude and so immature of him.

Taylor Swift never got to finish her speech, she just left the stage with her mouth open.

Later on the show, Beyonce won Video of the Year award and on her speech she said how she felt the first time she won an MTV award when she was 17.

Then, she called Taylor Swift to come on stage..

..to let her have her moment.

On a Rainy Day..

Posted by GoddessMC On Monday, September 14, 2009 2 Comments

You asked, what do I do on a rainy day?

I have two answers for this one question.

Scenario 1: Its raining and I have to go to work.

I hate having to do this! I wish there is an option for me NOT to go to work if its raining!

Why?

Nakakatamad bumangon ng maaga!
As simple as that.

Another thing is, Since I don't own a car, I have to commute in order to go to my school. And you know how heavy the traffic is if its raining. AND there are arrogant drivers that will not speed down when they saw you walking near a puddle of water. What happens? Ayun, matatalsikan ka lang naman ng putik!

As soon as I arrive at the office, I will pray that it will continue to rain.

Why?

Because classes might get suspended! Since I work at a school, if classes are suspended, more or less, 'suspended' din ako!

Scenario 2: Its raining and I have no work.

This scenario, I love love love!

Here's the plan.

I will wake up very late in the morning. Around 10 or 11am. As soon as I wake up, I will ask my mother what's for breakfast. After eating, I will go back to my bed. Sometimes, I eat breakfast in my bed. So, the plates I used stays with me in my room! Haha!

After eating, I will lie on my bed again; with the remote on my hand, I will browse which shows/programs I will watch. If nothing catches my attention, I will open the laptop. I will check my mail and play games in Facebook. After sometime, I'll get hungry! Again, I will ask my mother, "what's for lunch?"

After I finished my lunch, I will continue watching TV and resume with my online "obligations". Maybe I'll feel sleepy. Eh di matutulog ako, I'll take a nap.

Upon waking up, siguro mga 6pm na, I'll be wishing that the day be longer because it might not rain again tomorrow or worse, work work work again the next day. No more lazy day for me..

That's it. My usual rainy day habit! Sleep and eat all day long!

What's your rainy day ritual?

Love on the Internet

Posted by GoddessMC On Thursday, September 10, 2009 3 Comments

What's your thought on this?

If this question was asked to me a year ago, my answer would be, "Impossible! Mga naglolokohan lang tao sa internet!"

But ask me now and my answer would be... wait! I don't have to answer this! I am guilty! Guilty of finding love on the internet.

Here's the story,

I was a member of a forum online and late June 2008, I received a PM from someone. The message was brief, not more than five sentences even. Just asking where I am from and hopes that maybe we can be friends. Because we share the same interest, I responded. She replied to my message, I replied once again. Soon enough, we're friends. We exchanged mobile numbers, email address, added each other on Friendster, etc.

One day, this person wanted us to meet personally. What did I do? I ignored the offer, thinking that I will never have the courage to stand in front of this person. But eventually, I gave in. We met and I realized something. I am in love with this person.

Our first meeting was followed by another and another and another and another. With each meeting I am falling more deeply in love not thinking if my feelings will be reciprocated, I just keep on falling.

One night, a crazy idea popped in my head, maybe this person is in love with me too. With palms sweating and my heart beating a million times faster, I asked this person to be mine.

Yes.

The answer I've been waiting for.

1 year and 3 months later,

We are friends.

And in love with each other.

Life is good!
